今年も温かく素敵な時間が流れた「3月11日に波に乗ろう」。前夜祭、3月11日、さらに翌日まで何と素晴らしい時間であったことか。野草や竹と戯れ、地中や海底に思いを馳せ、時＝生命の営みを知ったようなやはり分からないような。。そんな素晴らしき日々でした。本会は深い意味はなく、ただただ3月11日に集い、サーフィンをし、美味しい食事を食べ、ダラダラと過ごすためだけの会です。そんな時間を、もしよろしければ、ぜひご共有ください！まずは仲本拡史監督による20分のハイライト映像をどうぞ。
そして、何と本作が台北当代芸術館で開催中の展覧会「安全室-safe room」（会期：5月24日~9月7日）のイベントとして8月23日に上映されるとか！本当でしょうか！

let’s ride a wave on 3.11 was once again filled with warmth and beautiful moments this year. from the evening before, through march 11, and into the next day, we shared a magical stretch of time — playing with wild herbs and bamboo, reflecting on the earth and seabed, and sensing the flow of time and life itself .

as we always say, this event carries no deep meaning — just surfing together on march 11, enjoying good food, and spending good time with one another. if you’d like, come experience our “nothing special” days by checking out a 20-minute highlight reel by hirofumi nakamoto.

and guess what — the film will be screened for one day only on august 23 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei (MoCA), as part of the exhibition safe room (may 24–sep.7). can you believe it?

追伸：今年はさらに岩沢サーフコミュニティのレジェンド、関根乃さん、坂本巌さん、鈴木一司さんにお話いただいた「岩沢海岸発見史」のアーカイブ映像制作も進行中です。仲間愛とサーフィン愛に満ちた珠玉の物語です。どうぞ楽しみにお待ちください。
p.s. we’re also working on an archive film, the history of discovering iwasawa beach, featuring legendary members of the iwasawa surf community — mr. osamu sekine, mr. gan sakamoto, and mr. katsuji suzuki. a gem of a story, full of surfing spirit and deep friendship. stay tuned!

from the 3rd “let’s ride a wave on march 11”, 2024

今年で第4回を迎えるこの会は、まるで会そのものが意思を持つ有機体のようです。自由奔放な展開を繰り広げ、その連なりを私はわくわくしながら目撃しています。
共同主催者の三原聡一郎さんは、ご近所の冨岡小学校の(ときどき）転校生となり、嬉々としてワタナベ農園でネギと里芋を掘り、魔法使いのような津嘉山裕美さんは、その傍らで野草をガシガシと採取。もうひとりの共同主催者の松谷容作さんは、サーフィンの波待ち中に天啓を受けたかのような輝やかしい表情を見せ、その好奇心で岩沢海岸発見物語を見つけました。そして地元の学校にみんなでお出かけしてスカウトしたり。楽しかったなーーそんなこんなでまとまった今年のプログラムです。以下リンクでどうぞご覧ください！

now in its fourth year, this event has taken on a life of its own, like an organic being that keeps evolving in the most exciting ways. watching it all unfold has been such a thrill!

one co-organizer, soichiro mihara, has fully embraced local life—becoming the “new kid” at tomioka elementary, cheerfully digging up leeks at watanabe farm, and foraging for wild plants with pure glee. the magical hiromi tsukayama, like a playful wizard, happily forages wild herbs with gusto wherever she goes! meanwhile, the other co-organizer, yosaku matsutani, had what seemed like a stroke of divine inspiration while waiting for waves during a surf session. with his curious, researcher-like mind, he unearthed fascinating stories about discoveries at iwasawa beach. together, we even headed out to local schools for some scouting. what an adventure it’s been! this year’s program is brimming with exciting highlights. check out all the details at the link below!

青木裕介 (Circulation) 監督撮影による2024年の「3月11日に波に乗ろう」記録作品が完成しました。青木監督は広野町出身ー広野幼稚園・広野小学校・広野中学校に通った生粋の広野っ子（縁側の家の高橋姉弟もそうです）で、現在はご自身が主宰する「多世代交流スペースぷらっとあっと」や「ひろのパソコン教室」を拠点に、この浜通り地方を元気にする活動を多角的に展開しています。
40名ほどの参加者が集った今年の「3月11日に波に乗ろう」は２日間の長丁場。各々の思惑で偶然に集った人々が一緒にサーフィンをし、食事をし、ゆるやかにつながりまた散っていくーそんな「ngupi（アチェのスラングで目的もなく集いダラダラするの意味）」な時間が、青木監督の優しい眼差しにより作品となりました。私たちの最高なダラダラっぷりをぜひご覧ください!

寒い中、遠路はるばる福島まで来てくださった参加・協力者の皆様、そしていつも温かく見守り支えてくれる友、仲間、家族に心からの感謝を。

今年の「3月11日に波に乗ろう」は初の２日間のプログラム。スタッフ・関係者を合わせると40名ほどの人々が集い、この日を共有したことになります。遠くから来てくれる方々が多いので、イベント終了後には、果たしてどうだったのだろうかといつも気になります。
そんな時、写真家の東詩歩さんが当日の写真とイベントレポートを送ってくれたのです。そこには（主催者としてこの上ない喜びを感じる）詩歩さんの才気あふれる考察と視点がありました。こうしてつながり広がっていくのかと、しみじみとうれしい思いでいます。

縁側の家の盟友で同志、三原聡一郎さんの展覧会「三原聡一郎 レシピ：空気の芸術」が慶應義塾ミュージアム・コモンズで8月3日まで開催中です。
この展覧会に縁側の家も何としっかり（うっかり）登場！三原さん、松谷容作（追手門学院大学）さんと縁側の家が共同開催をしている「3月11日に波に乗ろう」の展示コーナーです。circulation 青木裕介さんの素晴らしいドキュメンタリー映像や、秀シェフのお品書き、父あきらの竹細工など、東京の真ん中で縁側の家を少し体験いただける三原さんの粋な計らいです。ぜひ、会いに来てください。うれしくてにやにやが止まりません。感謝！

詳細：三原聡一郎 レシピ：空気の芸術

—慶應義塾ミュージアム・コモンズ公式サイトより—
身の回りにあるさまざまな現象について独自の方法で芸術への読みかえを行い、そこにあるシステムやゆらぎのプロセスを可視化・可聴化していく三原聡一郎。メディアアートの基盤となるフリーカルチャーやオープンソースプラットフォームといった民主化されたテクノロジーの視点・方法論から、開かれた系（システム）のあり方を探り「装置としての芸術」の探究を行っています。
我々を取り巻く現象・事象に焦点を当てた制作活動を展開してきた三原は、近年、それらをマッピングすることで、自身の作品と制作の関心が「振動」「呼吸」「粒子」の3カテゴリーから成ることに気づき、「空気の芸術」と名づけました。加えて、三原は作品の「レシピ」づくりを実践しています。レシピとは、三原の作品の根幹であるゆらぎのプロセスを想像する方法自体をアーカイヴ化していく試みです。そこでは、芸術作品のメカニズム詳細を可能な限り記載すること、レシピに準ずる限り再制作を許可することなど、芸術実践における循環や還元性についても思考しながら、実験的に制作が進められています。
本展覧会では、新作の《粉を挽く》を加え、近年の三原の制作活動を一望することで、我々を取り巻く循環的な世界にさまざまな切り口から迫る「空気の芸術」について体感いただくとともに、「レシピ」の展示を行います。作品とレシピを同時に示すことで、作品と記述のあり方、想像力を他者と共有する試み、作家の生前意思、再制作・再展示といった問題をめぐる、三原の関心と実践に光を当てます。

An exhibition “Soichiro Mihara Recipes: The Art of Air” is currently being held at the Keio Museum Commons until August 3.
Uuulalaaa! What a great appearance of the engawanoie in this exhibition! In the corner of “Let’s Ride the Waves on March 11,” which is co-organized by Mr. Soichiro Mihara, Yosaku Matsutani (Otemongakuin Univ.), and engawanoie, you can experience a part of the engawanoie in the middle of Tokyo, featuring a wonderful documentary movie by Yusuke Aoki, three years food-menu hand written by Hide-chef, and bamboo works by our father, Akira.

Soichiro Mihara is an artist who presents systems that openly engage with the world and interpret them into the “art” of materials and phenomena. This exhibition displays Mihara’s recent artistic practices, including his new artwork and “recipes” for his works. Visitors can experience the “Art of the Air” from various perspectives. By presenting the artworks and their recipes simultaneously, we shed light on Mihara’s concerns and practices regarding the relationship between artworks and descriptions, sharing imagination with others, and issues such as the artist’s intentions during their lifetime and reproduction/re-exhibition.

縁側の家に展示されているアバロス村野敦子の作品《Beachcombing with John and Friends》の制作に深く関わるJohn Anderson氏（ Johnさんとは？上部のYouTubeをご覧ください）。Johnさんをオンラインで招いてのカジュアルなトークイベントを行います。アメリカ北西部ワシントン州の浜で漂流物を長年拾い続けている、このシーンでは著名な彼とアーティストが本作品の背景について語ります。約1時間ほどを予定。

John Anderson, who is deeply involved in the creation of Atsuko Avalos Murano‘s work “Beachcombing with John and Friends” on display at engawanoie. He is a well-known figure in the scene and has been collecting driftwood on the beaches of Washington State in the Northwest for many years. Due to the time difference, the event takes place in the evening. Please join us. The talk will last about an hour.

17:00 「NGUPI – アチェ/福島」経過報告会 （髙橋優子、アダム・ドーリング、斎藤勇樹、松本康弘）
海とコミュニティをめぐる縁側の家とアダム・ドーリング（和歌山大学）のプロジェクト「NGUPI – アチェ/福島」の経過発表を行います。共に津波被害を体験したスマトラ島アチェと福島のサーフコミュニティの交流と体験の共有から、海と寄り添い生きる人々の営みを紐解く本プロジェクトでは、2024年2月に福島のサーファー3名（齋藤勇樹/anitoya、松本康弘、高橋優子/縁側の家）がアダム・ドーリングと共にアチェを訪問しました。
NGUPI はアチェの方言で、友達と特に目的なくコーヒーをすすりながらだらだらする事の意。果たしてNGUPIとなったのか…乞うご期待ください！
17:00 “NGUPI – Aceh/Fukushima” Progress Report (Yuko Takahashi, Adam Dorling, Yuki Saito, Yasuhiro Matsumoto)
Progress of the project “NGUPI – Aceh/Fukushima” by Adam Dorling (Wakayama University) and engawanoie on the sea and the community is presented. This project aims to unravel the activities of people living close to the ocean through exchanges and shared experiences between the surfing communities of Aceh and Fukushima, both of which experienced the tsunami disaster. NGUPI is an Acehnese dialect word that refers to a casual, aimless, coffee-sipping experience with friends.
We are looking forward to seeing if it turned out to be “ngupi”…stay tuned!

アチェの豊かな文化と歴史、そして人々のイニシアチブに圧倒されっぱなしの日々です。

アチェと私たちの新しい物語、始まります！

2024年2月、私たちの新しい冒険、インドネシア、スマトラ島アチェとの物語がいよいよ動きだします。アチェ、ロクンガのサーフコミュニティに会って、ngupi （ングピ）するのだ！ngupi （ングピ） はアチェで使われるインドネシア語のスラング で、友とコーヒーを啜りながら特に目的もなくダラダラする、という意味だそうです。そうそうこれでしょう。

この物語は2022年11月、縁側の家の優子がアダム・ドーリング和歌山大学准教授の紹介で、アチェ・ インド洋研究アチェ国際センター (ICAIOS – Aceh-International Center for Aceh and Indian Ocean Studies) 主催の公開トークイベント「Public Discussion Series #91 Return to Surf in Post – Tsunami Aceh and Fukushima (仮訳:アチェと福島 津波 の後で 再びサーフィンに)」に参加したことから始まります。

共に大きな津波を体験したアチェと福島の人々・サーファーの海への回帰の体験が共有されたこの会で確認されたのは、人々の海への親愛、津波の体験で抱えた海への恐れ・トラウマ 、コミュニ ティへの帰属感がもたらす大きな効果 です。私はオンラインでの参加でしたが、会場には地元のサーファーの姿もあり、鏡のようなコミュニティの存在に興奮と熱気に包まれていたそうです。

私はそれ以来、ロクンガのサーファーのひとり、Juikさんとやり取りを続けています。もうそろそろ実際に会いにいかなくちゃ！ということで、アダムを立会人に３人の仲間と共に会いに行ってきます! 

大きな津波をそれぞれに体験し、でもサーフィンをしているアチェと福島のサーファーが出会ったら、何か起こるかな。今回の旅では、まずは自己紹介として、私たちの横乗りカルチャーを捉えた齊藤勇樹 (anitoya)監督の映像作品『free & easy – 平和と共創の世界』と「3月11日に波に乗ろう」記録作品（2023年、仲本拡史監督作）をアチェで上映してきます。もちろん、サーフィンもしてきます！

さらに、旅に参加する齊藤勇樹 (anitoya)監督がこの冒険を、後日ドキュメンタリーとして発表する企ても。参加者一同、期待・興奮・ちょっとのプレッシャーの渦中にいます。

Our next adventure takes us to Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia, where we will meet the surf community of Lhoknga in February 2024. ‘ngupi’, acheness word, means sipping coffee together, hanging out with no specific reason. this is it! it’s time to go to Aceh for some ‘ngupi’.

Our story began in November 2022 when Yuko joined a public talk organized by the International Centre for Aceh and Indian Ocean Studies (ICAIOS). our friend, Adam, aka prof. Doerig, kindly invited me to attend. The ‘Public Discussion Series #91 Return to Surf in Post-Tsunami Aceh and Fukushima’ shared the experiences of those who returned to the ocean after the tsunami in both regions. our communities shared similarities, including our love for the ocean, fear and trauma after the tsunami, and sense of belonging to the community. Although I attended the event online, there were local surfers in the audience who were pleased about the mirrored community presence. I have since continued to communicate with one of Lhoknga’s surfers, Juik.

What happens when surfers from Aceh and Fukushima, both of whom have experienced major tsunamis in their own ways but still surf, meet? As an introduction to ourselves on this journey, we will first screen the film “free & easy – the world of peace and co-creation” by Yuki Saito (anitoya) which captures our surfing culture, and the documentary “Ride the Waves on March 11” (2023, by Hirofumi Nakamoto) in Aceh. Of course, we will also go surfing!  Last but not least, Yuki Saito (anitoya) aims to share this adventure story with you as a documentary film. We are all very looking forward to it!
