車や電車で3時間 ほど東京から離れた場所に、縁側の家はあります。
関東平野を通り過ぎると、電車は海岸線に沿って走ります。

to reach engawanoie, it takes about three hours from tokyo, either by car or train.
after the kanto plain, the railroad follows along the coast.

ここは福島県浜通り地方、双葉郡の最南端です。
2011年3月11日の午後に地震と津波を体験し、
しばらくは常磐線の終着駅になりました。
町の人口は約五千人。実際の居住者数はその半数です。
急激な変化の中にありながら、町はとても静かに見えます。

here is the southernmost town of futaba district of fukushima prefecture in japan.
this land was struck by tsunami following the earthquake on march 11, 2011.
the station was the end of the line until recently.
we are in a changing but quiet town with a population of 5,000 people.
however the number of residents are half of it.
